Joanna Steinglass

Dr. Joanna Steinglass is a Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and the Director of Research of the Eating Disorders Research Clinic at the New York State Psychiatric Institute/Columbia University Irving Medical Center (NYSPI/CUIMC). She is a distinguished researcher and clinician dedicated to advancing the understanding and treatment of eating disorders, particularly Anorexia Nervosa.

Dr. Steinglass received her undergraduate degree from Amherst College and her M.D. from Harvard Medical School. She completed her psychiatry training at NYSPI/Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons, where she honed her skills in both clinical practice and research.

Dr. Steinglass has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, showcasing her groundbreaking work in the field of eating disorders. Some of her notable publications include studies on exposure therapy and cognitive remediation therapy for Anorexia Nervosa, the application of habit learning and cognitive neuroscience to understanding the disorder, and the assessment of eating beliefs in Anorexia Nervosa.
