Jesse Brown

Jesse Brown is a journalist, publisher, and podcast host. He runs Canadaland, the first and largest independent podcast network in Canada. Canadaland publishes Thunder Bay, The White Saviors, and a stable of news and current affairs podcasts that apply a critical lens to media and politics. Prior to founding Canadaland, Jesse hosted two CBC Radio One programs: The Contrarians and The Search Engine.
He is a winner of the Hillman Prize for investigative reporting and a National Magazine Award for humor. He has written for The New York Times, Slate, and The Guardian.
Jesse was inspired to pursue journalism after hearing early episodes of This American Life and realizing that news reporting could be personal, thoughtful, funny, and exploratory, rather than formal and anodyne. Some of his most notable achievements include his reporting on Jian Ghomeshi, the WE Charity scandal, and the podcast Thunder Bay.
