Purpose
To create even more high-quality original reporting and journalism.
Canadaland is dedicated to providing original reporting, investigations, debate, and analysis to its paying supporters and wider audience, and reimagining journalism as a sustainable, community-driven enterprise.
Canadaland believes that the path forward for journalism is to put the relationship with audiences at the center. While the news industry faces significant challenges, including information rot and the need for a shared record of accepted facts to ground debate and policy, experience has shown that many people do want rigorously reported news journalism and will pay for it if it adds value to their lives.
The Tiny Foundation is compelled by Canadaland's new model for journalism, where the contract between reporters and the public takes precedence over relationships with advertisers, partners, platforms, government, and other third-party funders. Canadaland's vision is to create a sustainable future for journalism by meeting audiences where they live and delivering news in a compelling, relevant format.
