Imagine Canada is a national, bilingual charity whose cause is Canada's charities and nonprofits. From the time of its launch through to the present, Imagine Canada is the only national organization that represents the interests of all Canadian registered charities and nonprofit organizations, regardless of mission, location, or population served.

Its mission is to strengthen and support Canadian charities and nonprofits so they may better serve and engage individuals and communities here and globally. It fulfills its mission by: (1) working with government to consider the contributions and needs of charities and nonprofits when public policy, funding programs, legislation and regulation are being developed and implemented; (2) ensuring the sector’s relevance whereby government, business, media, and sector organizations use timely, relevant sector data, information, and knowledge when taking action; (3) elevating the sector’s excellence by supporting charities and nonprofits in operating at the highest levels of governance and delivering the highest quality programs; and (4) ensuring that the unique and diverse perspectives, lived experiences, and expertise of the plurality of nonprofit sector voices are strategically, intentionally and regularly communicated to the general public, media, and government.

To realize its mission, it is committed to an ongoing process of becoming a more equity-driven, inclusive, transformative, and provocative player within and for the social good sector. It also holds itself accountable for advancing three foundational goals: (1) funding is flexible, reliable, and flows more equitably to organizations and communities; (2) the sector offers prosperous careers and is governed by courageous leaders with lived experience; and (3) voices traditionally at the margins are sought out and valued in decisions impacting collective futures.
