Purpose
To provide Vancouver communities with essential food, services, and wellness programs.
Watari, founded in 1986, initially focused on supporting high-risk youth in Vancouver. It has expanded its mission to offer programs and services to various individuals and groups in downtown Eastside and surrounding areas.
Watari is committed to nurturing its community by offering a wide range of programs that embrace the diverse needs of individuals and families. Through those initiatives, it creates opportunities for meaningful connections, personal growth, and collective well-being. Whether it’s through educational workshops, wellness activities, or community-building events, it believes in fostering a sense of belonging and togetherness that strengthens the fabric of our community.
Through its food programs, Watari provides essential groceries and hot meals to the most vulnerable residents. Its youth programming supports youth and families across Greater Vancouver with comprehensive services. Finally, it operates the Watari Wellness Center as a multi-purpose community hub.
